Adventures in Jharkhand

Jharkhand's plateau, with its waterfalls, forests and rocky hills, has long been a training ground for India's mountaineers.

Rock climbing and mountaineering

The Tata Steel Adventure Foundation in Jamshedpur, long led by the Everest climber Bachendri Pal, runs climbing and adventure courses on the rocks of the Dalma hills and elsewhere.

Waterfalls

Around Ranchi are Hundru Falls on the Subarnarekha, Dassam Falls and Jonha Falls, all at their best after the monsoon.

Hills and forests

Netarhat, a hill station on the plateau, is known for its sunrise and sunset viewpoints. Betla National Park, in the Palamau Tiger Reserve, offers jeep safaris to see elephants, bison and deer.

Water sports

Patratu valley, with its winding road and reservoir near Ranchi, has boating and water sports.
