Uttar Pradesh industrial scenario
Noida makes a large share of India's mobile phones and electronics. Kanpur is known for leather, Agra for footwear, Moradabad for brassware, Firozabad for glass, Aligarh for locks, Bhadohi for carpets, Varanasi for silk and Lucknow for chikan embroidery; the One District One Product scheme promotes these crafts. Specialties of Uttar Pradesh
Kannauj perfume (attar)
Kannauj, on the Ganga, has made attar for centuries: flowers such as rose, jasmine and kewra are distilled in copper stills (deg) into sandalwood oil, the traditional way. The town also makes mitti attar, with the scent of rain on dry earth, from baked clay.
Malihabadi Dussehri mango
Malihabad, near Lucknow, is surrounded by mango orchards, and is best known for the Dussehri, a sweet, fibreless mango that ripens in June and July.
