Adventures in Punjab
Punjab's adventures are mostly by water and along the Shivalik foothills, and its martial traditions come alive at festivals.
Wetlands and birdwatching
Harike Wetland, where the Beas and Sutlej rivers meet, is one of the largest wetlands in north India and a winter home for tens of thousands of migratory birds. Ropar Wetland on the Sutlej offers boating and birdwatching.
Foothills
In Hoshiarpur and Pathankot districts, the Shivalik foothills have trails, reservoirs such as Chohal Dam and the Ranjit Sagar Dam lake, and forest rest houses.
Gatka and Hola Mohalla
At Hola Mohalla in Anandpur Sahib, the day after Holi, Nihang Sikhs show their skills at gatka (the Sikh martial art), horse riding and mock battles.
