Chhattisgarh Adventures
Chhattisgarh's forests, waterfalls and caves, especially in the Bastar region, make it a good place for trekking, caving and nature trips.
Waterfalls
Chitrakote Falls on the Indravati river near Jagdalpur, often called the Niagara of India, is at its widest in the monsoon; boats take visitors close to the falls. Tirathgarh Falls drops in steps in the Kanger Valley.
Caves
Kanger Valley National Park has limestone caves such as Kotumsar, with stalactites, stalagmites and blind fish in its pools. The caves are closed in the monsoon.
Trekking and hills
Mainpat in Surguja, a cool plateau with Tibetan settlements and viewpoints, and the hills of Chirmiri and the Achanakmar forest offer walks and camping.
Water sports
Boating and water sports are offered at reservoirs such as Gangrel near Dhamtari.
