Manipur adventures
Manipur's lakes, hills and forests are ideal for gentle adventures, from boating on Loktak Lake to trekking to flower-covered peaks.
Loktak Lake
Loktak, the largest freshwater lake in north-east India, is covered with floating islands of vegetation called phumdis. Keibul Lamjao, the only floating national park in the world, is home to the rare sangai deer. Boating and kayaking are offered from Sendra island.
Trekking
Shirui Peak in Ukhrul is the only place where the Shirui lily grows; it blooms in May and June. The Dzukou Valley, famous for its summer flowers, lies on the border with Nagaland and can be reached from both states.
Hills and caves
The hills around Ukhrul and Tamenglong have treks to waterfalls, caves such as Khangkhui, and villages with traditional Naga houses.
