Eluru

Eluru is a small town that lies on the alluvial terrain of the deltas of Godavari and Krishna River. It is almost forty miles from Vishakhapatnam and Vijayawada. The two main tributaries of the Krishna and Godavari River meet at Eluru. The Kolleru Lake is situated just on the border of the Eluru town. The Tammileru River flows through this town of Elluru. The canal called Krishna Eluru flows through the center of the town from the southwest to northeast.

Eluru was previously known as Helapuri. It used to be a part of the Buddhist Kingdom known as Vengi.
